What are RECs?
Whether you are a residential member supporting zero-emission energy or a business striving to meet environmental goals, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) allow you to power your home or business with green energy.
RECs represent the environmentally-friendly aspect of energy generated at a variety of renewable facilities: utility-scale solar farms, hydroelectric dams, and biomass.
When one megawatt-hour of energy is generated at such a facility, a renewable “certificate” is created, and the certificate unlocks access to the green attributes of that megawatt-hour of energy.
When you purchase that certificate, you become an owner of renewable energy and an ambassador for carbon-free energy.
